Sidenote: Check out the Chameleons

So I went out for MTVs audience casting for their show MTVLive on wednesday, and this experience created a need for a few things worth jotting down.

  • Dissent is such a pop trend. I mean the topic of the show was the Cult of Advertising, but there were more commercial breaks than segments. At one point they even came back from commercial break to throw to the best three commercials of the year.
  • While its whateverly lame to ironically discuss the nature of commercials on MTV, some commercials are really funny, and I appreciate the creativity of some admen. For instance this one for a British salmon company, had this fisherman run out and take on a grizzly bear (man in costume from afar) for the salmon the bear just ripped out of the river. It reduced to ninja kicks, and rounds of rochambo (see kick to the groin) and the fisherman walking away with the salmon.
  • Guys should always wear a tie. Sure I looked like a syntheziser player from the Killers on the air, but I don't care, I got a kick ass seat by myself surrounded by pillows and looks of hey is that guy someone all episode long, and offered some no cover free drinks for a lounge in the city tonight; rock on MTV, Im gonna go watch 8th and Ocean now.
